Lunch

Refer to schedule of respective student’s lunch schedule. Food especially delivered by parents must be dropped off at the reception table c/o Gin Demapan. Make sure all lunch boxes and juice containers are labeled.

The school serves breakfast and lunch provided by Public School System (P.S.S.). Breakfast for each child cost $0.50 and lunch $0.75.

Meals and Snacks

The school recognizes the importance of good nutrition in the healthy development of every child. Parents are encouraged to provide nutritious and adequate food for their children. (Please limit chips, candy, gum to very rare occasion). The school shall prepare and serve any breakfast, lunch, and snack provided by the parent of a child. Additionally, the school shall have available breakfast and snacks to supplement food from the child’s home on particular occasions.

Weather Condition

There will be an announcement on radio in the event an approaching tropical storm/typhoon, which poses a danger to the CNMI. The school will follow the closing schedule of the Public School System.

The school shall close in the event of official declaration of typhoon condition 2 for other disaster and emergencies. Parents and persons responsible for the children shall make every effort to be aware of impending natural disasters shall monitor pick-up their children in the case of natural or other known disasters. Parents are required to cooperate with the check out system when picking up their children, even during emergencies.

Make a call to the school to find out the necessary information as well.

Parent Involvement / Parent-Teacher Conference (P.T.C.)

There will be a parent orientation and open house before the opening of the school where the parents may get acquainted with the child’s teacher.

Parent Teacher Conference are scheduled every after each grading period, to foster mutual trust and respect between parents/guardians and the faculty and staff of the school, at the same time assist and focus to the need of the children.

Class will be shortened in Advanced Kinder 5, to Graders from 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 P.M. to give time for the P.T.C.

Personal Items / Necessities

  • Personal Items.
    Children may bring personal clothes and other belonging to the school. It may be important to provide your child with extra set of clothes in case he/she dirty or otherwise need to change clothes. Respect for individual possession shall be promoted and observed.
  • Necessities
    Parents or guardians of nursery students must supply necessities for the child.

Dress Code

Uniforms students shall wear the required uniforms at all times. School and P.E. uniforms go in two sets.

All uniforms must be clean upon arrival at school. Torn clothing and missing buttons must be repaired before coming to school.

    Pre-School

    - Boys-white polo with logo and black shorts, black boy’s shoe and white socks.
    - Girls-checkered jumper, white blouse with logo, black shoes and white socks.

    Grade School

    - Boys-White polo with logo brown pants black boy shoes and white socks.
    - Girls-checkered shirt, white blouse with ribbon, black shoes and white socks.

Discipline Policy

  1. Positive Reinforcement
    • REWARD-rewarding a child for every good accomplishment, the rewards will be form of:
      • stickers
      • star/excellent expressions mark on his/herhands.
      • to play his/her favorite toy
      • a clap from the classmates
  2. Classroom Discipline for Misbehavior
    1. First offense-calling the child’s attention.
    2. Second offense-face the wall.
    3. Third offense-send to the office.
    4. Fourth offense-make a call to the parents.

    1. No Homework – the child will do his/her homework during the playtime or before/after school.
    2. Loss of Playtime – the child will sit quietly with the teacher or staff during recess.
    3. Loss of Privileges – the child cannot serve as a leader.
    4. Letter to the Parents/Phone Call – will be made to inform the parent regarding the behavior.
    5. Isolation – the child will be removed from the classroom, all class work will be done in the office for that day.
  3. Students are not allowed to bring toys in the classroom. Anything causes disruption during the school hours will be confiscated by the teacher. The office will talk with parents upon the return of the said item.

Classroom Rules

  1. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.
  2. Talk only when you are called
  3. Raise your hands if you want to recite.
  4. Stand-up straight when reciting.
  5. Always use the magic words, “May I”, “Thank You”, “Sorry”, “Please”, “Excuse Me” inside the class and campus.

Homework Policy

All home works must be submitted to the teacher the following day. The school has provided all the students an Assignment notebook to enable the parents/guardians to locate the child’s daily homework. Parent should also sign their name on the line stating “Parents Signature”, to instill to the child his/her parents are involved in his/her studies.

Parents should feel free to consult the teacher about any question related to their Homework.

A checklist for helping your Child with Homework (from PSS Bulletin)

  • Make sure your child has a quite place to work with good light.
  • A regular time each day for doing homework.
  • Basic supplies, such as paper, pencils, pens, markers and rulers.
  • Aids to good organization, such as an assignment calendar, book bag and folders.

Questions to Ask Your Child:

  • What’s your assignment today?
  • Is the assignment clear? (if not, suggest the school or classmate)
  • Do you need special resources? (e.g. a trip to the library or access to a computer?)
  • Do you need special supplies? (e.g. graph paper or poster board)
  • Have you started today’s assignment?
  • Finished it?
  • Is it long-term assignment? (e.g. art project)
  • For a project, would it help to write out the steps or make a schedule?
  • Would a practice test to be useful?

Other Ways to help

  • Check the assignment notebook
  • Look over your child’s homework, but don’t do the work.
  • Meet the teachers early in the year and find out about homework policy.
  • Review teacher comments on homework that has been returned and discuss with your child.
  • Contact the teacher if there’s homework problem or need you can’t resolve.
  • Congratulate your child on a job well done.

Seatwork Policy

All daily seat works must be done in the class. (Most of the time seat works are graded). Since Weekly Test comes from their daily seat works and home works it is advisable to check their seat works daily. In the event that the child did not perform well at school, unfinished seat works will be sent home.

Working Plan

The school provides a weekly plan for the students. Its purpose is to be able for the teacher and the parents to work hand in hand with the child lessons, thus increasing students learning.
